FAQs:

What does an aged care advocate do?
An aged care advocate can provide information, advice, and support tailored to your situation.
Whether you’re just starting to explore aged care, have lots of questions, or need someone in your corner to communicate with your provider on your behalf, we’re here to help.
When should I use the Aged Care Advocate service?
People come to us at all different stages. Some reach out before their assessment to better understand what to expect, while others use the service when they have specific questions about their circumstances. Many people contact us if they’re experiencing challenges with their provider and want expert support to resolve them.
Do you only help if I already have an aged care provider, or can I use this service earlier?
You can engage our service at any stage, before, during, or after you begin receiving aged care. If it relates to aged care and you’d like expert guidance, we can help.
What kinds of things can you help me with?
We can support you with:
• Questions about how the aged care system works
• Advice tailored to your situation
• Advocacy if you’re experiencing challenges or disputes with your provider
• Guidance if you’re unsure where to start

Our role is to meet you where you are and support you in the way that’s most helpful to you.
How is this service different from Aged Care Navigation?
Aged Care Navigation is about helping people choose and access a provider for home care, residential care, or changing providers. The Aged Care Advocate service is more flexible. It’s designed to support you at any point in your aged care journey, especially if you have questions, concerns, or challenges along the way.
Do you speak directly with providers on my behalf?
Yes. If you’d prefer, we can communicate directly with your provider for you. Many clients find this helps streamline conversations and takes some of the stress out of dealing with providers.
What if I just need advice, not full advocacy?
That’s completely fine. You can use the service in the way that suits you, whether it’s a one-off advice session or more hands-on advocacy support.
How much does the service cost, and what’s included in the fee?
The service is a fee-for-service arrangement, paid privately. The initial consultation cost is $190. This session helps us understand your needs, answer your questions, and provide tailored guidance. For clients who require further advocacy or ongoing support, we’ll provide a quote at the end of the initial consultation outlining the scope, timeframe, and process involved.
Is the information I share with you kept confidential?
Yes. We follow strict privacy policies and protocols to ensure that your information remains secure and confidential.
Can you help resolve conflicts with my current provider?
Yes. We can advocate for you, communicate with your provider on your behalf, and support you in resolving conflicts or concerns.
Can you help me make a complaint if I’m not happy with my provider?
Yes. Book an initial consultation and we’ll guide you through the process, talk through the options available, and support you with the next steps.
Can you support people outside your main service areas?
Yes. We support people Australia-wide. We can meet face-to-face on the NSW Central Coast, or on the Gold Coast and across Brisbane in QLD. For people outside these areas, we provide support via phone and video.
How quickly can I book an appointment if I need help urgently?
If you use the booking form on this page, we’ll be in touch within one business day to arrange your consultation. In urgent situations, we can fast-track your initial consultation.
Do you provide ongoing support, or is it just a one-off session?
The initial consultation is a useful information session, which for many clients is enough to answer their questions and give them confidence moving forward. If you need further support, we’ll provide a tailored quote for ongoing advocacy.
